AGreen Farms is seeking a creative, highly proficient and motivated indoor hydroponic farm manager to supervise and drive daily operations at our Philadelphia farm. The selected candidate will need to have experience in a start-up hydroponic farm. This will lead the execution of the farms’ planting plan by confirming all varieties seed to harvest times for an optimally fresh product for our clients. You will also be able to ensure best growing practices per crop variety that will yield the highest quality product.
We will only consider candidates that have 3-5 years of direct experience with the hydroponic growing of microgreens, leafy greens, herbs and flowers. Familiarity with different indoor farming technologies, pest management, and nutrient systems is a must.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the company leadership while being self-directed to ensure AGreen Farms is a leader in hydroponic crop production to ensure customer satisfaction
Manage all facets of the indoor farm, hydroponics equipment and operations (engineering experience necessary)
Determine and operate plant grow environment; including the developing of daily production plan and managing the schedule to optimize productivity
Responsible for the processes of seeding, harvesting, process and package for delivery
Manage growing and maintenance staff including training new hires
Maintain detailed growth records of crop activities and observations
Lead R&D in growing techniques and crop development as well as the expansion of new varieties
Skills and Experience
A proven team player and leader that enjoys working in a fast paced, high-growth entrepreneurial environment
Motivated to accept additional responsibility as the farm grows and expands
Experience recruiting, training and managing farm support staff
Three to five years of experience in indoor farm management employing hydroponic techniques
Extensive knowledge of hydroponic production of many crop varieties including the relative plant nutrition and pest management
Knowledge of hydroponic technologies including lighting systems, controls and other processing systems
Strong communication skills (verbal and written), as well as the ability communicate with diverse groups of individuals
Strong computer and problem solving skills
Flexibility in schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
Education
Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related field is preferred; advanced degree is a plus

AGreen Farms is a Philadelphia based Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) startup that will provide restaurants and select hospitality establishments with locally grown greens, herbs, and flowers. The company will employ the latest technology enabled hydroponic farming techniques to optimize for the best aesthetics, texture and flavorful unique crop varieties.
