Head Grower – 5+ Years Commercial Greenhouse Production Required Full Time

Required: 5-10 years’ experience in a management role in commercial greenhouse production

Master’s Degree in Plant Science, Horticulture, or a Related Field
Experience in commercial production hydroponics
Experience in commercially producing leafy greens and herbs
Superior problem-solving and analytical skills
Extremely well organized
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
Experience with business intelligence systems

Specific Knowledge:

Commercial growing experience with leafy greens, crop yields and quality, climate management, young plant production, food safety, plant nutrition, crop scheduling, commissioning/start-up, managing direct reports.

Management Skills:

Experience handling ongoing operations of a hydroponics farm. The right candidate will have had management experience in commercial greenhouse production.

Industry Contacts:

All retail, wholesale, and foodservice customer contacts welcome. Relationships with hydroponic equipment suppliers, packaging suppliers, and/or distributors is a bonus.

Technical Skills:

Knowledge of climate control software platforms. Understand all aspects of crop production and growing. Experience with hydroponics as well as with business intelligence systems.

Responsibilities will include:

Overseeing crop yields and quality as well as plant nutrition
Organize crop scheduling
Managing direct reports
Oversee climate management in the facility
Oversee young plant production
Commissioning/start-up
Develop, enhance, and manage food safety

Required Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Science, Horticulture, or Related Field
5-10 years’ experience in a management role in commercial greenhouse production
Understanding of all aspects of crop production and growing
Experience with climate control software platforms
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to thrive at work under minimal supervision/direction
Ability to work weekends and work flexible hours as required
