Plant Scientist/Horticulturalist Job Description:
(a) Managing day to day plant operations at BabylonHQ:
– Organizing Growth Trials in a Controlled Environment
– Executing Trials (Seeding, planting, harvesting, and cleaning)
– Data Collection (Yields, density, plant health, issues etc.)
(b) Experimenting with new crop varieties and combining different crops into menu items:
– Researching new varieties and growing conditions
– Sourcing seeds
– Curating crops into menu items
(c) Researching nutritional and health benefits of different crop varieties and creating content to support marketing collateral.
(d) Managing consumables development and implementation:
– Seeding, packaging, labelling, and shipping consumables to customers
– Sourcing cleaning supplies & growing accessory items for customers
– Sourcing new packaging options
– Maintaining sufficient inventory
(f) Assisting with research grant writing and implementation (Ex: National Science Foundation Research)
– Designing and implementing research trials
– Collecting results and adhering to reporting standards
– Developing concepts for new processes and technology
– Assisting with sourcing and writing grant applications
(j) Keeping clear and detailed records of your activities including, but not limited to the following:
– Video and photograph records of plant operations
– Keeping excel spreadsheets up to date
– Developing blogs and other written content
(k) Hardware and software feedback – as an operator of our Micro-Farms consistent feedback will be essential in helping the engineering team to improve the user experience.
(l) Carry out experiments and record data and methods according to research proposals
