Embedded Firmware Engineer Full Time

Babylon Micro-Farms has developed an IoT enabled on-demand farming service that remotely manages on-site indoor farms. The company’s farming modules and platform make sustainable indoor farming accessible to a much broader market than is currently possible, and greatly improve quality, reduce waste, and save money for its customers. Babylon is a high growth, early-stage company based in Charlottesville, VA.

Software Engineer Job Description:

Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
Write adaptable, test-driven firmware primarily in Python, secondarily in C++ to be run on embedded devices in our IoT fleet
Troubleshoot problems at the software, hardware, or communication protocol level
Write code that uses communication protocols such as I2C and 1-Wire
Write code that interfaces with sensors and cameras
Consult with engineering staff to evaluate software-hardware interfaces and develop specifications and performance requirements.
Document and maintain software functionality
Evaluate user feedback and implement improvements that lead to greater user success
Comply with project plans and industry standards
Ensure procedural improvements after problems occur
Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions to present to other developers and other teams
Work in cross-functional teams to develop software and firmware for research trials
Experience Requirements:

4-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
3+ years of relevant industry experience
Experience in high growth, IoT company is a plus
Experience with I2C
Experience with test-driven development
Strong knowledge of developing in Python
Git
Docker experience is a plus
Experience designing, testing, and debugging circuit boards is a plus
Experience with agile development is a plus
