AQUAPONICS EXPANSION PROJECT COORDINATOR- This full time position manages the day to day operations and assists with expanding greenhouse business opportunities; assists with all aspects of crop production including purchasing supplies, propagation, potting, fertilizing, watering, pest and disease management practices, and maintaining environmental controls. Other duties consist of business development and marketing, hiring and managing grower staff, providing customer service, implementing inventory control, and ensuring the upkeep of equipment and facilities. Expertise with hydroponics/aquaponics including drip, ebb-and-flow, and NFT systems, as well as HID lighting configurations. A flexible work schedule to include some weekends is required. Position also requires extensive knowledge of hydroponic plant production (vine and leaf crops) and personnel management skills with proven ability to be self-motivated. Experience with organics and USDA certification a plus (we seek to become a certified organic hydroponic grower). Will supervise youth and adult employees and volunteers working on in the greenhouse facility and will direct their work itineraries.
QUALIFICATIONS- A bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Aquaponics, Agronomy, Crop Science or a related field preferred. 3-5 years of experience working in controlled environment greenhouses/aquaponics facilities. Experience marketing and selling produce. Experience maintaining a Revenue and Expense sheet. Knowledge of current culinary trends as they relate to produce, herbs and fish. Knowledge of aquaponics systems design and operations. Basic computer knowledge-Windows, Excel, Word. Ability to problem solve greenhouse operations malfunctioning and to physically make repairs. Skills in operating listed tools and equipment. Must be able to lift approximately 75 lbs.
