Plenty is seeking a Senior Grower who will coordinate all aspects of product development and applied plant science based production in a modern, high-technology hydroponic farm.
The individual will coordinate our efforts aimed at optimizing all aspects of hydroponic growth and in routine activities, including data monitoring, plant handling, harvesting, analysis and collection of environmental and production data. A basic component of the position will be the ability to work on several projects simultaneously and assist the Plant Biology Team in wide range of different activities.
What you’ll do:
This will be a hands-on role where you will be harvesting and transplanting crops, monitoring and controlling plant nutrition, and managing high-intensity plant production equipment.
The Lead Grower will oversee and steer a variety of farm-wide and laboratory activities, including monitoring, data collection, experimental set up , basic laboratory tasks such as cleaning and maintenance, seed sowing, plant care, etc. This role will work closely with the R&D Team and Farm Operations Team in improving all aspects of plant growth.
Providing strategic and operational guidance to the leadership team, as well as technical input for cross- functional project teams.
What we’re looking for:
Motivated individuals with extensive plant science, agronomy or related backgrounds to assist in a wide array of activities in plant growth and product development. Direct hydroponic plant production experience preferred.
Minimum 2+ years experience working in greenhouse or production environment.
Understanding of plant science, horticulture and plant materials, propagation, pest management, crop production.
Ability to implement and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Superb technical problem solving skills.
Knowledge of plant material functionality, plant biology, and plant biochemistry a plus.
Background in botany and horticulture is preferred, along with enthusiasm for innovation.
Experience with common data collection, analysis and documentation tools.
Understanding of basic experimental design, scientific method and statistical design and analysis.
