Ashley Reed

My friends call me Ash. I’m a creative type with a heavy interest in horticulture, botany, illustrating, writing/playing music, and activism. I am a very vigilant and thorough person. I am always mindful of others. I am a fast learner and have grace under pressure. I am good with time management and can easily find productive work with downtime. I like to volunteer with my time off and the most recent volunteer work I did was teaching English to a woman trying to obtain citizenship in the US. I’m happy to say that I helped her reach that goal. I enjoy throwing benefit shows for good causes and have so much experience curating and hosting events. My friend, Jillian, and I co-founded the Orlando Zine Fest in 2012. Through these experiences I can say with confidence that I know a lot about event planning and fundraising.

Team member

Although most of my experience is within the service industry and retail work, Horticulture is closer to my interests. While working here I have learned so much about horticulture, plant care, plant identification, farm animals, farming/harvesting crops (including hydroponic growing techniques and setting up drip irrigation systems), compost, making bouquets, data entry, and more. In addition to learning, I was able to use my existing skills and knowledge and apply them in situations. I also painted signs around the farm, which was great because painting/illustrating is a hobby of mine. I was just awarded employee of the quarter.

Enzian Theater

February 2013 to August 2014

1300 S Orlando avenue Maitland, Florida 32808

Waitress/lead server/bartender/barista/catering and event staff

Reference: Adam Smith, Manager and administrative staff at Enzian Theater ; Phone number: 407.310.9392.

Enzian is a non-profit theater and they host many events every year, including the annual Florida Film Festival. While working here, I was a jack of all traits, from bartending for a theater that seats nearly 1,000 people to managing the floor and working events. This job had a lot going on which was and can be stressful to some but I thrived coordinating and working with a team making sure everything always went as smooth as possible in timed circumstances. Upon working at Enzian I was promoted twice and ranked third out of over 30 employees for highest sales.

In addition to food service positions I also occasionally do work as an independent contractor for Dynamic Events in Manhattan setting up and breaking down art fairs. The job duties include building and breaking down walls, taping, painting, cleaning, etc.
