Defining changes in a modified field soil by amendment of organic materials in a greenhouse container study: impacts on plant morphology, biomass allocation, soil pore size distribution, and rhizosphere microbial community composition. Applications include plant growth promotion and disease suppression and/or tolerance to soil-borne pathogens. Currently in writing phase.



Screening of commercial biological control products against R. solani on Cannabis (industrial hemp) seedlings. Isolated and cultured R. solani from UVM extension farm research plot after experiencing considerably low seedling establishment during two successive years. Conducted seedling assay using 10 different biological control products under cooled environmental conditions at UVM on-campus greenhouse facility to mimic early-spring planting times. 1700+ seeds in total. In progress.




Graduate Teaching Assistant.

20+ hours per week teaching Plant & Soil Science courses at UVM as part of funded assistantship program. Responsibilities included lecturing for 50 minute class periods, coordinating and instructing 3-hour lab sessions, caring for class research projects and crops, and holding weekly office hours to assist students with understanding course materials.

450+ hour internship in cultivation for University credit. Hired as employee following internship. Responsible for all aspects of garden management, including but not limited to: propagation, germination, pruning and training, plant nutrition, and maintenance of hydroponic systems in a newly constructed, large-scale hydroponic production facility. June 2013 – Dec 2013.


Cultivation Manager. Thomas C. Slater Compassion Center. Providence, Rhode Island.

Assistant to the Director of Cultivation at newly constructed commercial cultivation facility. Responsible for all aspects of garden management, including but not limited to: environmental control, plant health, genetic selection, propagation, germination, plant nutrition, automated irrigation and fertilization, and integrated pest management. Managed, educated, and instructed a crew of four to six cultivators daily. Oct 2015 – Apr 2016.


Cultivator. Greenleaf Compassionate Care Center. Newport, Rhode Island.

Interim employment before beginning of graduate school. Responsible for propagation, germination, and genetic selection. Designed and implemented automated irrigation systems. Advised Director of Horticulture in design of facility expansion project, development of standard operating procedures, and integrated pest management protocol. Oct 2016 – Jan 2017.




Farm & Greenhouse Stays. Colorado, Oregon, Washington. Summer 2016.

Visited and worked with licensed Cannabis farms in three states. Shared knowledge and experiences, designed farm elements, planned crop scheduling, implemented IPM programs, observed a variety of soil and crop management practices, constructed greenhouse facilities, irrigation reservoirs, and relevant equipment.

Cultivator of high-CBD medical Cannabis for patients with debilitating conditions. Cultivation practices based on agricultural soil management techniques. Vendor to Thomas C. Slater Compassion Center. Fall 2013 – June 2016.



Provided expertise and wrote content for highly competitive medical Cannabis commercial cultivation license application in PA. Involvement included cultivation methodology, nutrients and growing practices, integrated pest management practices, waste management, and sustainability. Permit approved by state in August 2018.
